A Book Release Party @ Tumbleweed Cafe for the new Atlas of the A-B Wilderness!

Patrick Cross

Friday, December 13, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Voices from Yellowstone’s Capstone: A Narrative Atlas of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness is arriving, and we’re taking it on TOUR! Meet the editors, authors and artists at a book release event near you! At the Tumbleweed Bookstore and Cafe in Gardiner, Hank Rate and April Craighead will be reading from their work, then signing books afterwards!

Editors Traute Parrie & Jesse Logan (both former Forest Service and Board members of the ABWF) have compiled and published a phenomenal new coffee table format book all about the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness! And it is BEAUTIFUL! Consisting of over 30 essays by noted authors from around the region, this labor of love by the authors/editors is devoted to the history, the landscape, the people, the wildlife and plant-life, and the natural history of the A-B Wilderness, one of the true crown jewels of wilderness anywhere in the world. The words here are enhanced by incredible maps produced by Jesse and other contributors (hence the Atlas designation), and, of course, the incredible photography and compelling artwork from many local artists. There has never been a volume like this devoted to just the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.

We are so proud of this work! We want to take it around and show it off to the communities around the A-B, where you will be able to meet the contributors, map-makers, & artists, and hear them read from their work in places like Bozeman, Livingston, Billings, Red Lodge, Cody, and Gardiner. Copies of the ‘Atlas’ will be available at these events and then for sale at a handful of bookstores and outlets across the A-B region.

Everyone who has contributed to the ‘Atlas’ as we call it for short, has done so as a benefit for the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Foundation (ABWF). Proceeds from its sale ($45) go to the ABWF, a non-profit dedicated to the stewardship of this amazing wilderness! It is available for pre-order NOW! on the website. Everyone should find essays of interest in this work (338 pp. 9″ by 12″)! They will make great Holiday gifts! and help a good cause!
