Nichols Creek Trail Dedication

Patrick Cross

The Nichols Creek Trail is now COMPLETE and runs for 4.25 miles from the lower parking lot of Red Lodge Mountain ski area down to the West Fork Road. It is a true multi-use trail, to be shared by foot traffic as well as horses and mountain bikes and XC skiers!

The Nichols Creek Trail has been a joint effort between the Custer Gallatin National Forest, the ABWF, Beartooth Recreational Trails Association, the Montana Conservation Corps, and the Red Lodge Hiking Club. Most of all it has been built almost exclusively built by YOU, the volunteers and trail lovers in the greater Red Lodge and Billings area.

The ABWF is celebrating the official opening of this trail Saturday, September 8th. At 9 am, meet at the Red Lodge Mountain trailhead, to install the new trail sign and then launch on a fun scavenger hunt along the trail to find prizes and raffle tickets.

Afterwards we’ll relocate to Sam’s Taproom for the outstanding OktoberFest celebration!
